Some of you in our fellowship here at Jackson Bible Church have been graced by meeting Ralph Thomas. He works with me (Raymond) and is a wonderful brother in the Lord. I was telling him about this blog and some of the things I thought about sharing. He shared a thought with me that I thought was worthy of passing along:
In the old testament, priests would take sacrifices from men and offer them to God. Now, under the new covenant (or the new testament), we, as God’s priests, take God’s perfect sacrifice – Jesus – and offer Him to man.
As surely as Christ said, “It is finished” we witnessed that last necessary sacrifice needed.
Hebrews 10:12 says, “but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God.”
The irony is that His work is finished, but ours is not. It’s called the Great Commission. We need to be faithful priests that will tell a lost and dying world of the great sacrifice God made to save mankind.
Make plans today to ask God to help us to be an active part of such a worthy task.
